How much does a quality keyboard cost? Can you get a good keyboard for say, $200 or $300? I know that pianos can run in the thousands, but are keyboards the same way?

I think it depends on what you want. If someone is first starting out I'd go around $500. The better quality the higher the price. I've never seen a good keyboard sell for under $500, not one that has good clear notes. Ours came in at around $700 and that was 10 years ago.

When I look at keyboards, I want the full 88 keys and I want them weighted, so that drives the cost up. I'd say $600 is the minimum amount to spend.
