I'm replacing the rectifier tubes on my Assemblage 300B amp, and the current tubes are Sovtek 5U4G's. The screen printing on the chassis reads: CV378/5AR4/5U4G. I'm seeing quite a variation in pricing for new tubes. For example, the EH 5U4G sells for $14, while the Svetlana "Coke bottle" 5U4 is $44.50. I'm wanting to spend as little as possible for this replacement, and I'm wondering what's the least expensive tube that will do the job? Any suggestions? http://www.boiaudioworks.com/rectifier

Hi Fred.... I know that some folks say they hear differences in their amps because of the various tube rectifiers. I'm sorry to say I do not. I have had good results with other Sovtek tubes so I would replace it with the same type.

Good Listening
