What do you reckon to Cambridge Audio amps?

If you had to choose between a Cambridge and a NAD, which would you go for?

The less expensive one. They both sound the same to me. I have been listening to CD players in order to help a friend out and both of those units are on the list. I kinda liked the Nad 540 but who knows; it might have been the acoustics in the store or maybe just my mood.

HI,
I've owned a NAD 541i, which was really nice for the money.
At the moment, I believe they (NAD & Cambridge) are both made in China, and use decent parts.
I think they use different Dacs (the NAD uses burr brown) and the Cambridge uses either wolfson or crystal (again check on that, these things change).

I think they are equivalent, and I would listen to them both in my system and then decide, based on what sounded better to me.

But they are both very good value for the money.

Yes, that's what I meant. No need to answer though, I suppose it's a nosey question!

Thanks, akhilesh, for the info.

I didn't realise that they were both made in China now - still, that shouldn't matter.

One of my friends is in the market for a new system - I'll mention these two to him.

Naah; my life is an open book. No but as a younger man my buddy had a father who owned a used stereo shop in Rockaway Beach. I would vists and listen because he had literally hundreds of pieces of gear at any one time and the inventory changed on a day-to-day basis. I must have listened to every piece of gear ever made. He had a nice showroom too well set-up and isolated.

Where's Rockaway Beach? It's a lovely name for a place.
