How about this for a simple, beginner musical project build a Korg Synthsizer! I remember way back as a middle school student seeing a synthesizer demo, and since then I've always been fascinated with electronically produced music. A company called LittleBits has partnered with Korg to produce a foolproof kit for making a small synthesizer!
