Yeah, that's a common problem. Honestly, if the short side has less than six feet of wall on each side, you should consider it a deal breaker.

As long as it has six feet, it will sound balanced but less than that and you'll notice it. The one with the full expansion will sound different than the one with the truncated expansion.
