Can someone explain to me, in simple terms, about Pandora and Spotify and other internet "radios" and why I might want to use one of them? Are they completely free? Is one better than the other? Are they different in ways that matter?
And the most important question is, if you are listening to it, does it bog your computer or internet down so that you can't do other things.

It shouldn't bog your internet down at all. Of course it really depends on what computer you are using and what the processing power it has. I prefer Spotify, but it really is personal choice. They all have free versions and it's just an alternative to real life stations. I like that you can pick a specific genre or artists and they play related songs.
