So glad to see someone else has the pleasure of the T12's !
I bought mine in B'ham Al. about 1974 or 75 from Lawrence Stereo. Mr. Lawrence had just returned from a stereo show somewhere out west , heard these speakers and brought them home. Keep in mind that Lawrence is a big time advocate of McIntosh in all forms .... only high end stuff in his store. The T12's ate up every speaker in the store ! I've never heard a better speaker for presence and clarity . My system at the time was a Bose amp , B&O turntable , McIntosh C26 preamp and of corse those beatiful Paradox speakers . I don't know why time aligned speakers ( esp. those speakers ) havn't had more press . I know I'm probobly waxing poetic but that's the best damn speaker I've ever heard ! Enjoy !!
Wow, thanks for the great story my friend. I knew right away when I found them at My local Goodwill store. I saw them from across the store, and actually ran to them. They are in Excellent condition, including the grills and woofer surrounds(I was totally amazed about the surrounds). There are no scratches or dings on the cabinets. They truly look almost new. I paid $80 for them. I knew that had to be a steal. I am listening to them connected to a Sony STR-DE635 receiver. I'm sure they would sound even better with something vintage. I can't afford Macintosh gear as I am on disability and income is very tight. What do you or anyone else out there suggest for me to power them with that would be a noticeable improvement from what I have going on now? Also, do you know the power handling capabilities? Any other specs would be appreciated. Do you have users manual by any chance? Thanks for your response
do you still have the speakers for sale ? ,i have my pair i purchased in 1977 paid 660 pr. the best speakers i ever owned .i have a pair of Klipsch rf7 that dont compare
oh so the woofers and such are all different now , damn im lookin for somebody that has an original woofer cone so i can detect mine , i changed one out many yrs ago and cant tell which is the original lol oh well . i bought mine in 77 brand new
I replaced the woofers with polypropelene cones and oversized the magnets, improved the sound immensly. The original drivers were 70's technology so I upgraded to 90's technology. A great improvement in the sound.
