This USB cable by KingRex is a Y-type, with power going to one end and the audio going to the other. I wonder how much of an advantage you get by the separation; all I can see right now is needing two USB ports instead of one.

Hi, There are a number of possible advantages. Lots of time the power from the PC or laptop is full of junk. Using and external power source can provide clean power and improve the sound. Also you can get more power from an external power source than is available from the computer. The computer is usually limited to providing 500ma max. External sources I have seen can do as much as 2 amps.

Good Listening

Yes. Gofar is right. More power that is cleaner is the main advantage. If you are into the quality sound as much as I am, it is well worth it.
