Are you a fan of trumpets? I never used to care for their sound much, as it was too bright and aggressive for me, but apparently that was just the way they were played. I listened to a jazz quartet last weekend (not my normal habit) and the guy played the trumpet low and sultry, which I liked quite a bit.

Trumpets are definitely not one of my favorite instruments, I agree their tone can be very bright at times. I remember being in marching band, and that style of music got pretty irritating to me after a while. If I had to pick a genre where I like them, jazz is the way to go. Even in jazz though, I usually prefer the sound of a saxophone.
