The best religious movie for me was THE PASSION OF CHRIST directed by Mel Gibson. The movie was great. If you'll watch the movie, you'll surely be touch. You'll feel the pain and suffering of Jesus Christ.
I haven't seen the movie but I hear the same comments to those who watched it the same as yours. I have seen quite a number of religious films before and they're all good. This one is no any different I guess.
I have never been one for religous movies. Probably the only one I ever watched and liked was The Ten Commandments. "So let it be written, so let it be done." Ben Hur was good also, if you consider it religous.

This isn't completely off-topic, but it isn't really on-topic either. I realize you guys are talking about movies that depict a Biblical story. But here there are a couple of links below to movies that have some sort of apocalyptic plot. I think those kinds of movies are cool.
I've seen the movies entitled Carnivale and Da Vinci Code in the movie theatre last year. I enjoyed watching the movies because it's properly directed and produced.
