For those of you who took music lessons when you were growing up, did you find the music theory part of it to be boring? I actually thought it was interesting, although I usually preferred to play my instruments.
Some of it is ok, but generally I preferred playing to spending much time learning the theory. It drove my instructor crazy because she really liked theory.

Of course playing an instrument is more fun, but theory can be pretty neat. I also get into the math aspect of music, although that is admittedly pretty nerdy.

Well playing an instrument was certainly more fun, especially when I was younger, but I like the science of theory too. I enjoyed learning the how's and why's of certain notes working together. I will say I didn't really enjoy the music theory part of lessons until I was a bit older.
I took my fair share of music classes back in the day, but never got around to taking Music Theory. Partly because our school only ever offered AP Music Theory, and most of the people taking it went on to be Music Ed majors in college.
