You prob'ly don't want to hear about Underworld Evolution.

Things like Lost In Translation are a matter of taste and I've
made my opinion on that here (and everywhere else) already.

I can't keep my hands off dvds of "Oz." That's the HBO
series available on dvd. Ten stars at IMDb in case you've never
seen it. Other box just released is HBO "Carnivale" serious
adult stuff in both seasons. Also the 4400 second season box
is available. I like these because they are longer than a
movie, but in smaller chunks and there's no commercials.

The science fiction world awaits more Battlestar Gallactica,
the new version.

Oh, BTW I have a bit of blog-- pretty pathetic one -- but I put
a couple remarks in there about An Inconvenient Truth and,
more to the point, a new series from the Sci Fi channel called
"Eureka."

I used to live in Japan, so it brought back a lot of memories.

Another one that I like also is The Day After Tomorrow. It's a natural catastrophic movie with a lot of suspense and thriller in it.

And finally but not the least is the HBO TV series Rome. I guess everybody knows about this one. It's the talk of the town.

But the 'killer app' if you can call it that was The Goon Show.

The Goon Show was done for radio and there actually is a fan site
for this. Perhaps a diligent web search will turn up the
episodes as they were done for radio and rebroadcast as
recently as that same 70's period as Reginald. Worth the search which I might do myself. The goons are Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and
(I have to wiki this I blanked out--) Harry Secombe.

Good thing we started this topic. Apparently the Goon Show is
available as a dvd last broadcast. But it won't have all the Ray Ellington vocals. Ray Ellington sings like Lord Buckley only on key.

Also in re-release is Beyond The Fringe. I was surprised how well
this held up for me, being familiar with some of the
routines. Seeing it in black and white on a virtual bare
stage loses very little of the spot on humor.

Well I got distracted as I sometimes do.

I'm looking forward to V For Vendetta and Syriana whenever the
reserve queue thins out at the library.

Right now I'm trying to fill in the holes I've missed in
'24' lacking any really good stand alone movies or s-f
series (The 4400 season 2 will be available to me shortly
and also HBO's Rome and 'Carnivale' season 2.)

I've also spent quite a bit of time with but have not completed
the HBO Oz series-- something I think is one of the best things
HBO ever did. Start at the beginning and work your way
through it. Oz is not saccharine entertainment and so very
likely is disturbing to some. But that is where the art is.
Tom Fontana wrote every single episode near as I can figure out.
The casting is first rate. IMDb rating is 10 out of 10. It's
film quality due to the talents of Barry Levinson who produced it.

I've found most of my Oz at a vid store.

It's interesting that you can work your way backward through this
tv history and find gems in re-release on dvd with no commercials
and play them straight through. Shows like Carnivale really are
film quality.

Sooner or later I am going to by a good print of Honey West in
dvd.
