With the one Pis close to the floor the tone sounded perfect but when raised up over 10 inches the upper mid range sounded a little forward used with solid state receivers. So changed the crossover capacitor to 8.2uf with great results. First tested in 1.0 cu ft. box tuned to 60.0 hz plus or minus. Tested in two different locations. It may be just my ears.

Yeah, it's definietly better when placed close to boundaries. They work well as surrounds when hung from the wall or set on bookshelves. But if you're using them as mains on stands, you should definitely be running subs with them. That's good advice for any two-way speaker on a stand.
