The one π and two π models are equally competent as surrounds. But you're right, the two π has a little more in the ~60Hz range. In most cases, you can consider them to be equivalent when used as surrounds but there are a few situations where I'd probably lean a little more one way or the other.
If the speaker will be placed in a bookshelf that tends to provide too much reinforcement in the lower vocal range already, then I'd go with the one π model. Notice I said "in" - not "on" - if the speaker is used on top of shelves it usually isn't an issue but I've heard speakers placed in shelves that emphasized the lower midrange. The one π speaker won't suffer as much in this situation, and is easier to fit into the shelves anyway.
On the other hand, if the speaker will be used on stands or otherwise away from boundary reinforcement, I'd probably lean towards the two π model speaker. It has a little more down low, which is welcome when used with little boundary reinforcement. I also like this speaker when mounted back against the wall, although the one π model is just as good in this configuration.
