I am looking at improving my home theater. My thought was after I placed the new speakers correctly, I still wanted to get the seating right. I don't want to end up sitting in a location where the bass is bouncing around or the space is dead. How do I test the room without moving the furniture around a bunch of times?

Why not just put on a movie and listen while walking around? It's not the most scientific method, but it should help you narrow down the better listening spots and you can move furniture accordingly.
