I live near the train tracks, which can be problematic for recording! Other than recording around train schedules, what do you suggest for dampening vibrations?

Noise gates. Some of which you can control what frequencies are gated. A pre-amp can perform a lo-cut to eliminate the low-vibrations. A Graphic EQ with LED's that indicate the strength of the signal at every frequency will eliminate the problem frequencies too.
What are you trying to do specifically and what problems are being created?

It's more of an issue when I'm recording sound effects outside. It's very difficult to avoid ambient noise as a whole, but with the tracks being so close, the low frequency vibrations and train whistle can be especially problematic.
