I'm thinking of buying a Blu-Ray player for Christmas. Then a friend of mine told me that it is better to buy a PS3 as I can play games with it and watch Blu-Ray movies as well. What would you recommend?

Unless you KNOW that you'll never play any video games ever, the PS3 truly is a good deal for its bluray player (same with the Xbox 360 for its DVD player). Even if you only just have kids visit sometimes, the PS3 could be worth the investment.

Really, it'd depend on the price. Sure, the PS3 can play Blu-Ray discs but it is also $100-200 dollars cheaper than the PS3. If you're on a budget and don't want to spend that extra money, I would just go with a Blu-Ray player for now. Then again, if you like to game, the PS3 might be good to get, especially this season when there are more sales.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll be getting myself a PS3. I will use my savings to buy this console. I play sometimes and I'm sure I'm gonna like this.
Now how about the prices of Blu-ray movies, should I buy them or is it better to just rent them?
