I'm beginning to think that pulling the old stereo system and turntable out of storage was a huge mistake.
I've asked about woofers being distorted from long-term storage. Another issue has cropped up that I'd like some feedback on, please (pun intended).
It's a Pioneer unit, a synthesizer/tuner/amp combination. I was trouble-shooting a wiring issue with the turntable when I lost my speakers.
It would appear that the volume control on the amp is the issue. I can get distortion from the speakers, but not sound: the sound is not being transmitted.
I've redone all the wiring from the amp to the speakers and the turntable. Nothing helped.
Is it worth my time to take the cover off of the amp unit, and attempt to clean or re-sauder the volume control aspect, or should I just resign myself to having that looked at when I get the speakers looked at?
The turntable was supposed to be a nostalgic thing for me and my other half, and a blast from the past for our kiddo. It's turning into a major headache, and hubby refuses to so much as touch it because of it's sentimental import to me.
Insight, please? I hope?
