Generally, open spaces are easier to work with than small rooms, at least where acoustics are concerned. I'd probably put the main speakers on stands flanking the TV, left and right and at about the same height or maybe just a smidge below. Then put the surrounds beside you and maybe a little bit behind you and slightly above ear level.
