PC Pro has a very good article concerning the actual application of DRM technology. I found it to be very interesting.
I don't know how true this is but they seem to think it is common practice;

"Apply a fingernail sized peice of opaque tape to the outer rim of the disc and the CD reader then treats the CD as an ordinary single-session music CD."

Ah-hah, so an edge reflection is sensed to determine the type of CD, yes? I'll have to read-up on this. Thanks for the tip.
