been looking around hear for a while for a project. Think I'd like to try the 8pi's. I would appreciate it if i could have the plans for the enclosure and crossover for the 8pi's.

also as a secondary question, just to satisfy my curiosity, can a corner horn like the 7pi be mounted above floor level. I have radiators running the length of every wall so to use a speaker like this it would need to be mounted above.

Thanks
Dan

The problem with mounting the cornerhorn off the ground is the midhorn and tweeter would be unnaturally high. It was designed to be placed on the ground, but except for the height of the HF drivers, you could lift the cabinets, especially if you were using multiple bass sound sources. Maybe invert the cabinet, hanging the midhorn and tweeter below the bass bin.

Wayne, how would the Alpha 10 work if it was installed in your mid range horn? The horn section itself in the 8pi looks the same? I would have to build a rear chamber for it? I'm not concerned with a crossover network as I use a low level active network.

The Alpha 10 actually works pretty well in the midhorn. It doesn't have quite as much power handling capacity as the Delta 10, but it works well and sounds nice.

Thanks, interesting. Now you've given me something else to think about. I'll have to model it in hornresp when I can get my other computer going. With the alpha connected direct to the amp, a 200 watt per channel kenwood, it should get plenty loud.

I'm interested in the 8pi plans as well. Do you think that the speaker could perhaps be converted to a "double 8pi", with a second midwoofer horn mounted upside-down on top of the first, for greater power handling? Also, I'm a bit confused - is this speaker meant for corner-loaded or freestanding use?

The eight π loudspeaker can be used in a corner but doesn't need to be put there. If you have the right corners, put them there, like π cornerhorns. But if not, just angle them inward like three π or four π speakers.
