How many people like the surround sound speakers? I think they are better because it makes it easier to hear the TV or movie. I also like the feeling that I'm in a theater.

I like using surround speakers for movies. But I wouldn't skimp on the mains in order to afford surrounds. If I had a limited budget, I'd prefer high quality two channel sound to mediocre quality five channel sound.
What can you do with a desktop speaker to have a surround sound? I have a regular computer speaker that has a bass and treble control but I can't get a surround sound from it. Can I use a software to create a surround sound on my desktop speaker?
So this means that I can create surround sound only by adding speakers. I wonder if I can make a home theater with my computer. My monitor is 22" with good graphics card but I don't have a good quality sound.
From the (admittedly little) I have read on this topic it isn't really worth building your own home theater with a PC. At least not in financial terms but I guess if you enjoy the project then it's worth it in other ways.
