SL2000. I think it was the first direct drive at a reasonable price. It has a stanton cartridge which I really don't remember buying. I would have sworn it had an Audio Technica. Another Denon piece I wish I had bought back when was their MC cartridge w transformer. It was a great piece of gear. It blew the doors off everything in the shop.

I thought that seemed awfully cheap. I remember that cart selling for 150-175 in 82, and the transformer was $100. But, if Denon has been making it unchanged for 44 yrs, I think their tooling and development costs were taken care of long ago. Like a Briggs and Stratton 3.5hp motor. Unchanged for 50-60 yrs. You can buy them wholesale for $20.
