Gee; the autopsy report is in; 1/2 brain weight, she was blind, so much for following the balloons movements. She had a brain that was all scar tissue and she would have died from an MRI. Where are the wacko's now? The Republican Senators now, the religiosos now? Can we get an apology from these people for trying to force this dead person to keep breathing?

Bravo, good point! In fact, I think that every useless person must be removed from society. People who are sick from incurable diseases must be eliminated (less suffering for them and their relatives, less medical expenses, their relatives would inherit them, etc. - you can attach your favorite reasons). I think that the doctor and some of the relatives can decide when to kill the patient, and how - there are many possibilities, for example combination of switching off the aparatus and choking with a pillow? Maybe a combination of poison and a brick in the head? Hmmm... Maybe the best is to introduce a new medical specialisation - "Executioner"? Or, do it right way - say at the end of each week with all incurable patients up against the wall, firing squad, bang-bang, that`s it. And why limit it to sick/coma patients? There are many other useless people at this world.

Then shoot him/her in the face with your favorite gun, simple enough, especially if you don`t believe in God, human soul, right and wrong. Some people do this to their sick/old animals (or pay the vet). And many, many people exist without a brain... Anecdotal "evidence" - son of one friend of mine was badly hurted in the car accident a few months ago. He was in the coma for a few weeks and then he slowly "waked up"...He is still in hospital, little better, can even talk a little. His dad ignored his job and he`s always with his son. Maybe his son would never recover, he was student, but now... But, his father love him even more. And nothing would change it. What`s suffering, illness, death - against the love? Nothing - and I mean it.

D-Man; do you know what her condition was? And yes; if my loved one was in her condition I would shoot them in the face if that was the only way to end their suffering. And I would make them promise to do the same for me. If you love someone you would do whatever it took to end their suffering. As for many people existing without a brain; they just acquitted Micheal Jackson so you are correct there my friend. And that is the second time he has prevailed in court. There is not a prosecutor in the world who will touch that case again; so it seems he can now molest with impunity.. Comere little boy.

Blind and deaf people, with limited brain functions are not less human. "Allowing her to pass" is actually in her case starving to death. "Funny but you never see nurses and doctors..." - well, my wife is a doctor, and some of my friends are nurses and doctors. They gave the vow of Hipocrat, that they would protect and respect human lives from conception to natural death. Another "anecdotal evidence" you like so much... In the war, a friend of mine risked his life to help a badly wounded soldier - high caliber bullet in the abdomen, bowels in the dirt. Well, he is not a doctor, but he had one clean shirt, picked up his bowels, pushed the shirt in the hole and tighted it with his belt. And doctors operated him for quite a while several times, and it was a miracle - he stayed alive. I respect what my friend and the doctors did. And disregard people who would have done nothing ("nothing can be done, better him then me") and people who would have "shortened his misery". I said what I had and now I wash my hands.

What we have here is cross-cultural misunderstanding. I blame myself for not speaking more clearly and conscisely. Understand I don't take another persons opinion personally, we all have different views and experiences; thats why ice cream comes in flavors! (My Wife is a Nurse Practitioner; she has her own practice as well as running an outpatient clinic.) (I used to volunteer at the hospice for end stage cancer patients.)
