Mike.e; Try Los LObos, " Kiko", and the Jayhawks, " Blue Earth". Excellent recordings and great rock, not too harsh or manic. There is a canadian band that has good music and really good recordings, Blue Rodeo, anything by that band is good smooth rock and roll.
Mike, have you heard the Dire Straits greatest hits recording "Sultans of Swing" - the very best of Dire Straits? It's a HDCD with a very good sound - don't know if that's due to the HDCD thingie or just cos it's a overall better recording. But I can hear it even on my own pretty mediocre system :-). It contains the hits up to "Local Hero".
Hi mollecon-this is the CD I have. The sound quality astounds me on my commercial cheap 3way sonys + jbl 15" ! Cant wait to have some $$$$ to try line arrays,horns etc
