Yes, prices were slightly increased this year. We haven't done an increase in a long time, weren't keeping up and were getting close to losing money. It's a labor of love for me so I don't need to make a bunch of money to stay in business but I don't want to take a loss either.

The kits only went up 10 bucks, so I don't think it will hurt anyone. But if I take the time to solder the cable assemblies and crossovers, print the plans, package the kits and take them to UPS, I sure don't want to do it at a loss.

Thanks you sure do a excellent job on the soldering I agree, and your replies to our questions. You are a good hearted person and I thank you for your time. I was a audio tech. for over 20 years and wish I would have known then back in the early 80's what information you have on this site now. Eminence Ky. is not far from me, and I have heard they have laid off workers and moved some of their operations to China. Some drivers are not available from the factory here so I guessing they are being made overseas now. Anyhow I dindnt mean to put my foot in my mouth , I thought they raised your price and that it may hurt you . God Bless and many Thanks...

Eminence has raised their prices, yes. They've tried to keep costs low, but then again, that has meant some changes that I've had to deal with. One in particular is the LAB12 woofer, which I have had to stop using and instead use an OEM (PI-12) driver, specially made for me. The tolerances have changed, and the LAB12 as of about a year ago is not suitable any longer, so I have them build me a driver instead.

In most cases, the cost changes are small and yet these incremental changes have eroded my (already tiny) protit down to nothing. That's why I had to raise prices just a little, to keep up. And they're not the only company I purchase from, all parts have gone up in the past few years yet I've not changed my pricing structure. The JBL drivers are more expensive, the coils, caps and resistors, everything has gone up incrementally. My price increases were small, just enough to cover the differences.

The electro-mechanical specs are the same but the pole piece is machined to fit the cooling plug. They used to be fairly uniform and the cooling plug could be easily fit with a minimum of effort. About a year ago, all that changed - Pole pieces would vary as much as a 1/16th inch. So we now have them machined before assembly.
