Hello,

I stumbled upon this thread while researching the Beta 12LTA and had a couple of questions. First, the LF performance seems very good for the size enclosure. Is this still a valid size enclosure for the driver? The LT and LTA both appear to have the same T/S BTW.

Second, where would be the best place to position the port. I noticed that the 4PI its up high on the cabinet rather than the traditional spot on the bottom.

Thanks, amt

The Beta 12LT works pretty well in boxes from 2.0ft3 to 9.0ft3 tuned to 35Hz.

Port placement isn't usually an issue, unless of course there are relatively low-frequency standing waves within the cabinet that cannot be attenuated with stuffing. In that case, port and driver placement become important because response is affected by the standing wave nodes and how they line up in the cabinet.

Tower cabinets longer than a couple feet are the ones I'd be mostly concerned with because they can act like transmission lines. That's fine if that's what you're designing, otherwise, at least be aware of their influence. In smaller cabinets, the port position doesn't matter too much, it is purely a Helmholtz resonator.

for the speedy and informative reply. After looking over your forum, Id say you are about the most attentive host Ive seen online! Must keep you quite busy.

I will report back once I build them and break them in. Wont be until after the New Year though.

Cheers, amt
