Alright guys let's talk about a sweet sweet film. This is one of those sleepers in which when I originally saw the preview I had absolutely no interest. In fact thought it was silly to think dragons could take over the world. However, when I actually took the time to watch it I was so impressed. Why? Because first, the adaptability of the dragons and their ability to produce such a massive degree of pyromania DID make it possible. But what intrigued me the most was the human degree. Being a man, I could really relate to the responsibility the main character displayed - the children - especially in the scene where they're all crying after an attack and he almost loses it emotionally. Truly good stuff. I loved the dynamic of survival and the human spirit - our ability to face fear with a courage that can only be truly realized when one is in that position. I also enjoyed the relationship between Christian and Matt Mconaghey. Two warriors with their own agenda, who fight each other, then coming together to fight their common enemy ending in honor, glory, and great respect for each other. This movie moved me as a man.
Right on dude - I'm very glad to hear that - couldn;t believe all the people we ran into lately that didn't like it - f'in wierdos. Did you see what i meant about the dynamic of when he comes into the safety chamber where the kids are after the attack - loves that scene - so human yet personal. Did you notice the children's cries - as a filmmaker i have thought of that scene several times. I have worked with kids before and they can be very hard to coach along in what emotion you want them to feel - but those children's cries sounded genuinely frightened. I also enjoyed the relationship growth between both leaders. Can you understand why people HATED that movie - i mean I can understand if you say it didn;t really do anything for ya but HATEd it - gimme a break. Anyway good to hear from you - hope Olana is doing well with quiting the smokes - take care bud.
