Wayne, the wife has been cool with the ever growing collection of Pi speakers around the house but the tower 2's really are a little large for rear surrounds so I've been thinking... If I built a cabinet 36" tall with the same volume as the smaller pi 2 and used a psd 2002 tweeter to match the theater 4's we might both be happy. What would I need to do to the crossover to change tweeters? Would the box tuning need to be changed since the speakers will be right up against the rear wall?

BTW, I did get a little crown amp and it really woke up the theater 4's. The fan is noisy, but I don't even notice it after I put the amp in my entertainment center. I'm saving up for some JBL's now.

The eight π uses the Alpha 10 and PSD2002. The Alpha 10 drives a midhorn and the rear chamber is tuned similarly to the two π tower, so it works sort of like a mini-VOTT. You might like that design. If it is still too large, you could do something like you're talking about with a crossover like what is used in the three π or four π. Personally though, I'd stick with the stock two π or two π tower and use them as they are. The Vifa tweeter is a little smoother and milder, and that works perfectly for surrounds.
