Hi everybody,
I'm Giampiero from Italy and I'm new in this forum.

First of all, scuse me for my bad english!

I wanna made the Theater 4 but I have a doubt:
in my point of listen my ears are at 90cm (36")from the floor, while the center of the T4's tweeter is 13,5cm (5,4") more low.
What do you think? Do I need a stand to rise the T4 at the same level of my ears? Or Would I have to put the tweeter on the top of box?
Thanks for your attention

Best regards
Giampiero

The Theater four π speaker is large and does not need a stand. Sitting six inches below the centerline of the speaker is perfect, even if you are sitting pretty close to it. It's good to get the mids and treble up to ear height but don't raise woofers too high if you can help it because that causes floor bounce which makes a notch in the midbass. So don't put these on a stand.

By the way, the speaker you've shown in your post is a Theater three π made by Fred Thompson. I don't believe he ever made a four π. The Theater three π is smaller but sounds very nice and balanced. The way he made it is a common mod, with the tweeter sitting on top and the woofer shifted up to be in the same position related to the tweeter. This is popular with people that use a wood tweeter horn like shown below. It's also another way to raise the sound source without needing a stand.

Hi Waine,

thanks for the fast answer, but...

Quote: "...Sitting six inches below the centerline of the speaker is perfect, even if you are sitting pretty close to it..."

... the centerline of the horn tweeter is six inches below my ears, not the contrary, as you have written! Thank you

Sorry for my poor english...

Giampiero

That's still pretty good, if you're sitting a couple feet back or more. The pattern is 90x40 so you have a pretty good spread.
