Just finished watching The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming. Alan Arkin, Theodore Bikel, Carl Reiner, Jonathan Winters, Paul Ford, Eve Marie Saint; what a cast, what a story! Still plays well for me even after 38 (!) years.
Really caught the feeling of the times with comedy. Have to remember that in 1966 WWII Veterans were only in their 40's and Korean War Vets in their thirties. The Cuban Missile crisis and the Berlin wall were only a few years old.
Funny, poignant, very entertaining. And Paul Ford! The Colonel in Sgt. Bilko. What a great character actor and a terrific foil for Brian Keith's Sheriff.
