12π basshorn perhaps? [message #50685 is a reply to message #50684] Mon, 12 February 2007 13:35 Go to previous messageGo to next message

You mean the 12π basshorn subwoofer? The 1970's ten π has been obsoleted, and I haven't made a scaled-down version of the 12π yet. I expect to do so, but it won't happen for a while. So the only basshorn I have currently available is the 12π hornsub.

I was actually thinking the 10pi that people used to get below their oris horns and that used 2226 drivers.

I think I must have those plans still around somewhere but I'll have to look. Send me your E-Mail address and I'll reply with plans if I still have them.

You might also consider using something like the midbass horn designed for the 9 loudspeaker system. Its driver is a JBL 2226 and I think it will be a better horn than the old ten π was. It's an axi-symmetrical conical straight horn with flat walls, which makes it easy to build. You'll need a subwoofer with it though, because it is designed for use from 100Hz up is only good down to 80Hz or so. I don't have plans for it available yet, but it's a very easy horn in concept and in construction. It has a square throat, square mouth, and flat straight flare walls.

Sounds cool even if it needs a sub. I'll wait for it's development!

Thanks,

xavier
