Xmax is generally considered to be voice coil length minus gap height, divided by two. It's the amount of one-way travel before the coil moves out of the gap. However, some manufacturers use a different way of finding this value. One proposal is to give an excursion figure that results in a certain THD, such as 10% or 15%.
