Hi Wayne, due to a change of circumsances I have finally decided on the 2 Pi towers and would really appreciate the plans. Although I am not ready at this time I will add a subwoofer. Perhaps you can suggest a suitable design and if you give me the box size I can start the wood hunt.
Regards
Charlie

The three π subwoofer would be a good choice for adding to Studio or Theater Series speakers. The tower two π runs deep, so you won't lack of bass even before running subs. Later when you add subs, you can crossover the mains higher which will reduce IMD.

Hi Wayne,

What is the 3Pi Subwoofer? Is this new?

The three π subwoofer is not new; It's just not on the shopping cart, 'cause the kit would consist of nothing but a woofer. The three π subwoofer is a LAB12 in a 3.5ft3 vented cabinet. Same thing with the four π-18 subwoofer, which is a JBL 2241, 2242 2245 or Eminence Omega 18 in a 10ft3 vented cabinet.

Received the plans and thank you. I will be using some laminated wood for the baffle that I already have. This is a sheet of 19mm mdf laminated to a sheet of 19mm marineply which comes out at 1.496". What size hole will I need for the port with, lets call it 1.5" thick once rear panel is painted and what is approximate crossover frequency. I will build the box deeper than shown to allow space for triangulating the rear section which I then fill with sand. Done this before and it produces a HEAVY but very dead non-resonant box. I will submit photographs if someone can explain how to. Also I need to buy 2 X Vifa DX25 tweeters from you. Perhaps it is better to discuss the deal by email.

Charlie

For 5/8" wood stock, cut a 4.5" diameter port hole.
For 3/4" stock, cut a 4.625" hole.
For 1", cut the hole 4.75" diameter.
For 1.5", cut the hole 5.125".

You can order the tweeters on the shopping cart in the "Parts and Options" section. Look for the "Vifa Upgrade Kit". That kit includes a Vifa DX25 tweeter, Solen 10uF capacitor, 16Ω, 10W non-inductive resistor and two spade lugs.

Wayne, when I posted on your forum I did not use a password and because of this can not order the Vifa tweeters online. If you give me an email contact I will send you my details. I procrastinated for months on which design and, you know how it is, having finally made up my mind, need those speakers fast. Please advise
Many thanks.

You can E-Mail me at this address any time. I'd be glad to help.

About online registration, the forum password has nothing to do with online ordering. You can register on the forum to protect your name on AudioRoundTable.com, to ensure that someone else won't use your moniker. On the π Speakers shopping cart, you enter your account information like name, address and payment information. This is a separate issue from the forum.
