I am considering building a set of Pi's for my brother. He has a Pioneer amp from the late 70's early 80's (built like a tank) that puts out 150 watts/channel. He mainly listens to techno/hip hop, so great low end is a priority. He doesn't have a conventional listening arrangement, he has the speaker positioned corner to corner, firing at each other. Soundstage and imaging don't mean much to him, just room filling sound. What do you think, which model offer the best room filling sound with killer low end?

Thanks,
Pfenning

Use Professional, Premium or Stage Series seven π-18's.

I should have mentioned he will probably want to hang them or put them on stands. What if horn loaded cabinets are to big for him?

By coincidence, we had a visitor to the store yesterday who recently heard the 4 Studio 2 Pi's I built for a friend. The speakers are hanging in the 4 corners of this fellow's mansard roofed shop.

These guys are Dr. Hook freaks, 2 of them play in a local band that covers the Doctor's music.

He, the visitor, said it was 'the best sound he'd ever heard' and played so loud the "tape on the drywall was peeling". IIRC, the amp is a cheap but powerful Sanyo.

Need I go on?

You betcha. The little two π sound great and don't cost much at all. Two π towers go deeper but they bigger too, not speakers for stands. Another option is to use four π cabinets for bass bins and use the midhorn and tweeter from the seven π on top.
