First let me tell you I'm very glad I found out about Pi speakers. Great group, great forum and the best host.

Since I want to build an HT system I want to get as close as I can to VOT speakers! I'll build five Pi 4 Pro bass cabinets purchasing the 5.0 JBL 2226's down here in Mexico. I'll build the 0.1 using a JBL 2241.

For the top I'll use Altec 811Bs with 802-8G drivers.

I'll use the 1.6k crossover modifying the attenuator/compensation network by making R1 30 ohms, R2 15 ohms and 0.47 uF cap as per spkrman57 suggestions.

Amplification via five 300B SET parafeed amps and one SS Mosfet 150W amp for the 0.1 channel.

Do you think I would profit from adding two additional subwoofers using JBL 2241s (10 sq ft) for the left and right channels? I would not add additional amplification. I'd attach them to the main L + R speakers with a 18dB/octave 50 Hz crossover.

Thanks a lot,

xavier

Sounds like a good plan. The 2241 subs in 10ft3 cabinets will definitely fill in the bottom octave. Pro four π's sound great all by themselves, but adding the subs make 'em sound even better. That way you can take some of the low end off the 2226's which will clear up their already very nice midrange. Keep us posted with your progress.

I like it a lot!!! Hope you enjoy it. You'll be able to sell seats to your local cineplex owners....
