i've got a pair of klipsch lascala cabinets. no drivers or x-overs. does pi have something i could plug in w/o breaking the bank? thanks!

I am searching for a bookmark I used to have , possibly from the klipsch site? where in the deal was to install a JBL woofer and then vent it. They seemed to think it was the bomb. russellc

Yes it was the 2205 I read about, it was vented but I do not remember where, seems like it was a little lower, 35 hz maybe? I remember some slight adjustments to the cross over for the different driver, but I really dont remember what or how! I am sure someone on the klipsch forum can give the particulars. I have also read, I believe in the same article, as well as others, that they recommended a slightly different klipsch woofer also for netter bass in the stock arraingement than the original woofer provided. The klipsch drivers are reasonable in price, all things considered. Most I have seen, while they do the job, were light weight stamped frame and in stark contrast to the cast monsters made by altec and jbl. dont misunderstand, I have no problem with klipsch, just an observation about driver construction. russellc

Mainly I am refering to construction quality, the JBL and Altec are big heavy cast frames, whereas the klipsch drivers I have seen are stamped, much lighter weight items. Apparently, they do the job fine, just noting construction differences is all! Russellc

Thankyou, I new one of the Klipsch guys could show us this, Thanks again. I have wanted a Lascala project since the 70s, but only so many large horn speakers can reside in my small house at the time. Russellc

Well, it's nice to be able to help, but I wouldn't describe myself as one of the Klipsch guys. I built some La Scala bass bins to fill inn below my Oris horns. Nowadays I use the original Oris bass system. As you say, horns occupies a lot of space. Frode
