Hi Wayne.

I have thought about how the throatplate of the midhorn might reflect some midrange back too the speakercone.

How about gluing some felt to the throatplate just in front of the cone ?

Absorbent material doesn't do much unless it's thick. Small wavelengths are out of the passband, so I don't think reflections at those frequencies are harmful because they are highly attenuated.

Ahh....

My fault, I was thinking fullrange again
This is only used as a midrange horn, so your right, it doesn´t matter.

A while back you said the Peavey CH-3 horn was one of your favorites.
Do you think this horn is better sounding than the H-290 ?

I found a horn that looks very much like the CH-3.

It´s a Monacor MRH-120.

I ask because the company where I got the PSD-2002 sent me the screw on type, instead of the bolt on type, and it would be easier to use them on these horns, and then ordering some new for the H-290 I have now.

Regards
Kim

Wayne.

What´s your opinion on the Peavey 22T vs. the Eminence PSD2002S ?

I never tried a 22T because they always sounded artificial to me. In all fairness, the ones I heard were in existing systems, so it may have been something other than the driver.

I really like the Peavey CH-3. It measures well and sounds good too. I don't like the look of the seam, but it doesn't affect performance. Use them with your PSD2002's, they will work very well for you. The H290 sounds nice above 1.6kHz, but it isn't as good as the CH-3 below that. The H290 is a smaller horn designed to be used above 1kHz. In my designs, it's a non-issue because the tweeter is used above 1.6kHz. But the CH-3 is definitely a good choice that will work well for you.
