For the price, I'd grab the jbl. I bought a pair of these off Bill M. also.
As for your height limit, not only could you do your 2 way 7Pi, but also could do the non mid horn 3 way. It uses the same midrange driver for the mid, its just set in the front of the cabinet, below the tweeter.
