Ok ... I'm screwing up the courage/determination to build Pi 8's. But in the meantime, how do I put my Alpha 10's to good use, quickly? I've got two sets of thrift store boxes, heavily built, from the '60's. One set is 1.65 ft3, the other set is 2.08ft3.

I also have a pair of EV T-35's (not sure which version). Any suggestions for box tuning, xover with these HF horns?

I might also go ahead and purchase the PSD2002 & horn combo, just to get going ...

Thanks very much for any suggestions.

Regards,

Jim

Those box sizes will work fine. Just tune 'em to 40Hz and you're set. Use a 2" or 3" mailing tube and cut to the proper length. To know how long to make them, use the Helmholtz formula.

Thanks very much, Wayne. A quick ? about xover ... could I use the Pi 8 xover and the PSD 2002/h290 combo with this?

Thanks again,

Jim

No, you don't want to use an eight π crossover with an Alpha 10 used as a direct radiator. The tweeter section is fine but the midwoofer section would be wrong. You might use the crossover for something like a three π, but with Zobel values for the Alpha 10.
