Wayne,

Two unrelated questions:

1) I was playing around with Pialign yesterday hoping to work out a
port dimension of the PP Alpha 10 BR volumes that we discussed in
posts about a week ago. I couldn't fix the enclosure volume (or
change it for that matter) and let it solve for an optimum port.
Is that possible with Pialign, or should i look for another T/S
box tuning solver?

2) I'm finishing up four Studio 2 Pi cabinets, and I only have a pair
of kits, so I'll be ordering another pair shortly. I though it would
be informative to try the new Vifa alternative you are stocking. What
is the baffle hole dimensions to fit this? I'll check in later on
pricing.

thanks,

Skip

PiAlign suggests a specific box size and port. You can calculate other box sizes and ports with the formula and program in the post called "Two Pi with off-sized speaker box." Or you might grab a copy of BoxPlot or something like that instead.

The Vifa tweeter baffle cutout is 2.875", but you'll need two little bumps in the circle cutout for the wire connectors. You could also cutout a 3" diameter hole, but then the edge is very close to the mounting screws. You might want to order a pair of tweeters and see what I mean. The magnet is 2.75" diameter and if it weren't for the connectors, that would be all that you had to clear. If a person already has one π or two π speakers and they want to retrofit, it can be done pretty easily with a rounded file or four-in-hand.

Just what I needed. I think I'll recast the little basic snippet
in Perl -- might be more useful to folks these days.
