ACTIVE CROSSOVER

All that B.S. they talk about in audio reviews: transparency, inner resolution, imaging, clarity, presence, and did I say transparency? They really do exist!

I have seen the evil that is passive crossover.

Gar.

Say, what electronic X-over are you using?
Thanks, Russellc

Another advantage, for me at least, is that I always have the crossover for my next speaker already built.

It's only an old second hand QSD crossover that I got at Replay in Toronto. It's IC based and I've got it bi-amped with my Gainclone. Absolutely not hi-end equipment-wise but still huge improvements.

Funny you mentioned Replay - I just wrote to George a couple hours ago. When's the last time you saw him?

George is a great guy, isn't he? You guys should form a Toronto Audio Club!

Hello,
So this QSD, is it still being made, and if I may ask, is it a pro sound type that uses xlr or other that rca type cables? I have heard amazing things about the gain clones, and fully intend to explore them at some point in the very near future.

Thanks, Russellc

Hey Garman; I am doing the same thing; the Audion xover with the two Gainclones on the Altecs. What speakers are you using and where do you cross at?

I don't think this unit is still being made. I cracked open the box and it was dated from the factory in 1985. It's singled-ended with options for balanced, and input/outputs are all 1/4 jacks. However, it came with 1/4 to RCA adaptors.
