Looks like a good deal to me. They're great parts, and I would expect them to work very well together. If the box is tuned right and the crossover is good, it should be a great system.

I will have to find out what the box tuning is...the bad part is their is no crossover so Id have to come up with something.

I really want to build the 4 Pi Pros with all JBL motors just to get it off my back..but 2 of those kit are pretty spendy @ $1640 ..id be in them for a good $1800-$1900 after building some nice cabinets.

Heck I could buy a pair of JBL SR4725X speaker for about $100 more and just throw some Pi crossovers in them. :-)

If you have a subwoofer already, then you might consider building a three π loudspeaker with a Magnum 12 and a PSD2002. The box is small, so the cabinet could be made very nicely at low cost. The components don't cost much either, and they are of high quality and sound great.

So hard to tell what is going on in the pictures. It looks like one TAD may have been beat up a little, and like they may have styrofoam beads embedded in the surrounds. Scarcely the end of the world, but could be disappointing, depending on the price.

Which 3Pi would I build? Could I just substitute the Magnum then?

Yeah it is hard to tell...but what if they were good? Do you think this is a nice combination of drivers or just something someone threw together?

BTW I contacted TAD just for fun to see what those 15" re-cone kits run...$265 + tx and shipping. GULP!

A PiAlign'ed Magnum 12 has 0.85ft3 of interior volume, tuned to 55Hz. That proves a nice, flat response curve with f3 of 80Hz. The Magnum 12 works well in boxes from 0.5ft3 to 2.5ft3.

Excellent components, but I have not listened to any TAD so hard to say. I do know I like the sound of the JBL 2425H on a 2344A significantly better than a 2445H on a 2380A. Thus, this is not the path I would go down. The 2425 is about half the price of the 2445. Horns are about equivalent in price (used prices).
