The eight π is designed specifically for the Eminence Alpha 10. The Alpha 10 has a couple things going for it besides its T/S specs, and those are its low cost and its ability to work well with low-power SET amps. I don't know of any other suitable replacement drivers for the eight π right offhand, but there might be some, it would just take some looking around. I don't think JBL makes anything with compatible T/S specs though.

As for the Audiophile seven π's, you can use a JBL 2012 instead of the 2123. The 2123 was nice for a while because JBL was selling a bunch of them at their online "Tent Sale." Those are gone though, so now you must purchase the newer version 2012, which isn't discounted like the Tent Sale 2123's were.
