I've seen several of you reference Diana Krall as good source material for listening. So I go to the record store this afternoon and there are maybe 1/2 a dozen different cd's, all with rather girly titles. Can I get a recommendation on which ones have the better material?
Don't forget Norah Jones. I liked her first CD (Come away with me) better than the one that just finished topping the charts (Feels like home). Both on the keeper list though.
Well... I got the live in Paris CD. Its certainly Jazz, and pretty good Jazz I might add, but not really to my taste either. I am pretty sick of all my old rock crap, so I'll keep trying. Can't give it up, though (the rock :^)
Try Count Basie, Farmers Market Barbecue; Dizzy Gillespie, An Electrifying Evening; Sonny Rollins, Saxophone Colossus; John Coltrane, Blue Train. All of these are uptempo, hot and brassy. Even the saxophones. And then there's the Montreux '77 which I'm wearing out the grooves:
