The four, white, 2Pi's are suspended on hanging shelves in the upper corners of my friend's 30X30 garage. He'was blasting out Dr.Hook and tearing into a '34 Chevy when I left yesterday afternoon. You should see the 5 ton hoist hanging from it's I-beam in the middle of the vaulted, Gambrel ceiling. Happy Camper. So now I think I want to make a prototype based on the Theatre Pro4. I have the 16 ohm 2226's, I know where there are some 8 ohm 2425's and I'm pretty sure I want to try the Peerless horn tweeter as a supertweet above 6000 Hz. The Excel calculator shows 2nd order ButterBall with 16ohm low and 8 ohm hi-pass as C1=8.79, L1=1.13 and C2=4.40, L2=2.25 to cross at 1600 Hz. Is this the best? Then I can just add on the Peerless with about a 4.5 cap? And maybe an L-pad? Other suggestions for mating the 16 ohm woofer with the 8 ohm horn? BTW, the 6 foot tall sub-woofer is on hold. I installed the 260 watt P.E. plate amp (#300-794) in place of the 100 watt (#300-792) and it made a world of difference. The bigger amp has a rumble filter and much better control of the long Xmax of the Titanic.
