This is a repost for any who missed my earlier message seeking
those interested in speaker DIY in Wisconsin. Since the forums fill
up very fast I am going to repost once a month for a few months.

I have compiled a mailing list from those who have already shown
interest in having some contact with other hobbyists nearby.

To prevent any misunderstanding: No events or meet-ups are currently scheduled in this area. The DIY Wisconsin list is made for the purpose of communication with other hobbyists in Wisconsin and environs.

Just send a mail to lon@athenet.net and I will add your name.

Here is a list of the places I am posting this message:

No doubt I have missed some important ones. Please feel free to
mail me with additional locations either for speakerbuilding or
Wisconsin to catch areas I may have missed.

I'll bet your list of Wisconsin audiophiles is pretty large now! Getting close to time for a get together...

There are those 30 or so names.... some from down in
chicago, other one far away from my side of the state
in Minnesota.

I cut about 4 names that always come up bounced because
the parties were not considering that my mail may not get through
a company firewall. Goodbye to those. A fifth one received my
monthly message and said that I have them on this list by
mistake. It was one of those Mrs. and Mr email addresses...
oh brother. That's like having an email address called

The Smiths@anywhere.isp

You get the idea.

In between I have made at least one message a month but there
is little crosstalk.

So I don't know what the future of activities might be.
AudioRoundtable is on my desktop. I communicate with this list
the most. And I promote the list when I do get a mail from
somebody about speakerbuilding.

For the longest time, it seemed like I couldn't find anyone in Oklahoma interested in high-end sound clubs/events locally. As it turns out there were individuals here and there, but no one knew of each other so we were all sort of isolated. There's local mid-fi and a few hi-fi stores, and lots of car audio shops. Summertime brings block party gatherings where folks sell hundred-dollar car subwoofers and junk like that. But we never had any high-end audio gatherings around here until about a year ago. Now we have a pretty good little group going.

I expect it will come together in Wisconsin soon too. Just keep posting. You're close to Illinois and just across the lake from Ontario, so I suspect there is some interest fairly close by. I know there's activity in Chicago which is pretty close, so you can probably combine some efforts. Visit some of their gatherings and maybe you can entice some of them in coming to an event in Green Bay.
