If I purchase a Pi kit would the only thing else I would need be a box/enclosure and related glue etc? Or would there be other major pieces I would need? I have built my own design furniture but with the electronic component is this an easy build, or realistic?

Everything's included - all you supply is a box per the supplied plan.

If you've tried building furniture, building a couple of simple boxes like the ones used for (most) Pi's should be a piece of cake! Even I could, & I have CERTAINLY not tried making design furnitures - have build plenty of speakers, though :-).
