Tightwad, I can't see the image in your post - is it similar to the above? I've used deep slots for tuning with some success when for whatever reason a tube wouldn't fit. I think they're more resistive than tube ports though and care is needed when the height/width ratio gets large. John

Yes, exact same thing. Here's a link to the page from which the picture comes. It's the original Jensen Ultraflex design. I've found an Onken calculator (Excel spreadsheet) online which yields volume and vent numbers from T-S params.

Here is a direct link to the Excel file, from James Melhuish's web site. I believe an Onken bass box is still the standard accompaniment to the Oris horns, so if you are interested check out Oris's web page. I have tried hunting around for Onken's article on the design, with little luck.
