Hi Wayne,

I've been using JBL 2220's in vented boxes from about 100 Hz up to 500 with a JBL 2245 in a 10 cubic foot box below that. Due to a "marital realignment" I've had to move into a condo and need to lose the huge sub. I have two good corners and was wanting to try the 2220's in corner horns. 50Hz should be fine. Any suggestion as to how to implement this ?

Thanks,

Dave

If memory serves, the 2220's are similar to 2205's. If so, you'll love 'em in π cornerhorns. The 1980's standard model seven π cornerhorn used a JBL 2205 used a cabinet about the same size as the current 2226-based model. The motor chamber is a little under 3.0ft3 and tuned to 40Hz. Seems like the 2205 needed 2.2ft3, and with displacements figured in, the box outside dimensions were about 3.0ft3. Anyway, you might grab a copy of PiAlign and run the numbers to be sure, but I think you'll probably find that your 2220's in a 2.5ft3 to 3.0ft3 π cornerhorn will work very well.

Thanks Wayne !

Assuming apprx 3 cubic foot (ext. dim 18 X 28 X 11 inches), how far back from the apex of the corner should the driver side of the box be?

Thanks,

Dave

Please see the PiAlign document, as it shows the dimensions you'll want to use. The cornerhorn dimensions are shown on the last page.
